About Us

Ballochneck is a family home and business run by Donnie and Fiona Allan, their daughter Lindsey and husband Kit. After 15 years in London and many discussions, Kit and Lindsey made the decision to move back up to Ballochneck to be closer to the family and to provide their children with more space and freedom than the city could offer. Setting up Ballochneck as it is today has been a long developed dream and we are so delighted to be able to open the doors and welcome our guests.

Ballochneck is the former country seat of Sir William McOnie (Lord Provost of Glasgow) dating back to 1863. Since then, Ballochneck has only changed hands twice, first to the MacGregor/Masson family and then in 2000, to Donnie and Fiona Allan.

In Sir William's time the estate extended to some 3,500 acres but over the years properties and farmland were sold. Now 200 acres are left and have been used by the Beltex sheep that Donnie breeds and for your leisure.

The pond was once the Village Curling Pond and now the estate is home to wildlife in all shapes and sizes - fish, feathered, and four legged friends, who share it with us. The top of the wood has become home to Badgers and Roe deer all around!
